Ashanti Shequoiya, better known by the name Ashanti, is a famous American singer and actress. She is a US singer songwriter. Ashanti was famous when she was an teen. The year 2002 was when she was signed to Murder Inc. Records. In the same year, she made an appearance on Fat Joe's What's Luv? song and Ja Rule's Always on Time track both of which were huge hits. Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas popularly known as Ashanti was born in Glen Cove New York on the 13th of October, 1980. Tina Douglas her mother is a former dance teacher and Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas her father was a vocalist in the past. She is more youthful than Kenashia T. Douglas. Douglas named Ashanti Shia Douglas after her mother, who was from the Ashanti Empire of Ghana, where women were powerful and influential. Douglas wanted Ashantis to take this as a model.
